Jewelry Organization

{ All my pretties }

My jewels were homeless. They couldn't find a suitable place to rest. Because I'm a fan of all things big and obnoxious when it comes to accessories jewelry boxes wouldn't work, pocket organizers weren't big enough, and the necklace trees were too flimsy. Atlas I came up with my own version:

I took a regular cork board and covered it with this cute fabric scrap I had left over and painted the frame. Then for hanging my earrings I put ribbon in rows attached with push pins. Now my earrings don't tangle and I can easily survey my options. For my necklaces I put cup hooks along the bottom of the board. Now my long chains are crinkle-free! Container Store eat your heart out!

DIY

On my birthday eve, I have decided to take my curls into my own hands. I, unfortunately, have lots of curls but also lots of gray hair- thanks mom! I have my hair colored regularly. I, with my mom's help, do my all over color and I get my hair cut and highlighted by a lady that has done my and my mother and sister's hair for years. She is cheap and it's usually easy to get an appointment, the draw backs are that she doesn't work late and is about 30 mins away. So since I have a long, fun weekend ahead I decided to try and color my hair myself. I chose to use Loreal Couleur Experte in 5.3.

It wasn't that hard to do the regular color, but the mascara type wand for the highlights was a bit trickier (however the new boxes come with a better applicator). I'll have to post some results pictures from my wonderful birthday weekend. I'm having dinner with Mr. Grubbs tomorrow night, then a night out with friends on Friday, and a family celebration on Sunday. Pictures to follow... I really hope I didn't ruin my hair...
