Lovely Places

The icing has found its place atop the cake. Our super comfy, and always tempting bed is now adorned with West Elm's Organic Pin-Tuck Cotton Duvet Cover and matching shams. I picked up the Golden accent pillow from West Elm as well, but the plain accent pillows I found for a steal at TJ Maxx. I love the way a neatly made bed appears, and this is heaven for me, so I now make the bed every morning just to see it.

I also decided to place my "find of the century" lamp next to our slipper chair and Art wall. It puts a nice glow in the room at night.

I want to spend every free minute in our room now. I call the style of the room Natural Chic. The neutral toned bedding and chair, nautral textures, mixed with the rich navy walls and the shine from the Capriz shells makes the room sparkle. My finest and favorite room in the house.

Another Addition

I know, I still haven't posted my lovely new bedroom digs, but it's because I have another addition to the bedroom. I just picked up this gorgeous floor lamp at Target for $37!!! It was originally $150, yikes!

{ Beautiful. }

So I will post my pictures of the updated boudoir tomorrow. I am such a believer that your bedroom should be your sanctuary, your retreat from the world, and I think that mine is. I love it and want to spend all my free time there, and I'll show it to you all tomorrow.

New Delights

It's late, Man v. Wild is on (Bear, yum...), and Doc
is sleeping on my feet, but just a short post to tease with. Mom and I had a fun day of pizza and shopping. I got some seriously beautiful things to add to my abode but you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see pictures of it. Our home smells delicious thanks to some other new goodies. Just a tease, I know but I had to get my excitement out. Until tomorrow...

I ♡ Saturday Mornings

{ I NEED one of these. }

I bring you this post from the warm Georgia sunshine that I am gratefully soaking in on my back porch. It is barely lunch time and already an amazing 60 degrees. Pretty unbelievable when only 2 days ago it was 16 degrees. I can't help but pine for the warm that is spring and summer here. I can't wait to have our weekend breakfasts on the porch while reading a magazine or just chatting with my hubby. I can't wait for colorful blooms, the sound of the lawnmowers, and the smell of the grill. So here's to a day outside which I am very appreciative of since we could be back in the 20s this time next week.

Scrub-A-Dub in Style

How can one not love dark walls? I know, I'm obsessed but I can't help it. This beautiful interior picture from Photographer Guido Barbagelata shows a breathtaking bathroom with a stunning contemporary tub. Perhaps I'm biased since the color theme is the same as my newly painted bedroom. Navy and gold is a delicious pairing.

Adoration: Deep Saturated Walls

This photo evokes every reason why I love rich, dark tones on walls. It is a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

Beautiful Things

Not only is this room gorgeous with its neutrals, textures and cool blue accents, it features an adorable mini-dach just like my little one. Puppies, they get me every time.

Blooming around the Grubbs' House

Gardening has become quite a hobby for me. I'm no master gardener like Mrs. Graham, however I do like to dabble. I am a big fan of evergreen shrubs (LOW maintenance!) with annuals for color. My most prized plant is a snowball shrub that I planted this summer. It can grow to the size of a small tree and has white snowball shaped blooms, very reminiscent of a hydrangea. Here is mine with its first bloom:

My Endless Summer Hydrangea in my front yard is also blooming for the second time this season. This variety blooms into the fall season, hence 'endless summer'. Here she is:

I also added some pansies a planter on my front porch that houses an iron obelisk. I planted purple to contrast with the olive green of the house exterior. The flowers seem so tiny and delicate next to the iron of the sculpture. They will be so happy here during the winter.

More flowers and planting to come...

My Desire...

I love decorating. I always hate it when people say that. Only because most of the time it is someone who goes to a showroom and says "I want everything here." So they "shop" for a room that is pre-set and grossly matchy matchy. Don't misunderstand, I love things to match and am quite OCD about it, and I love to shop chain retail stores, but you can do both of those things and still have unique and personal spaces.

I am steadily growing towards the minimal/vintage/quirky type of style. The quirky is hard for Mr. Grubbs as he LOVES craftsman, worldly type design. I long for a home that is, of course, simply decorated, but in a way that any visitor can understand exactly why each piece was chosen.

My daily dose of Desire to Inspire has given me these luscious interiors to dream about:

I love how the simple, clean lined furniture is accented with the large, non-traditional artworks. Neutrals highlighted with bright accessories like the flowers and the color photographs.

The oversized lighting balances well with the low coffee table, and the repetition of paired objects brings a sense of stability. B-E-A-UTIFUL.

Dark paint, how I love thee. Charcoal is my new obsession, paired with white, it is stunning.
