New Sprouts and Cupcakes!

Two of my favorite things. As Erik and I were working 'round the house this weekend, I came across these little ones poking their way up through the mulch. My hostas. I love seeing the return of my winter sleepers in the spring. They are so green and vibrant and determined to get out, and that's exactly how I feel!

We took Sunday off from house work. Erik went golfing and I went to have dinner with my family. This Sunday's family dinner took place on the ol' Square at Marietta Pizza. The best place to get a huge, thick, and crispy slice of Sicilian Pizza. It was amazing. Afterwards the fam came over to our place for desserts. I filled the house with the sweet smell of cupcakes earlier in the day. We sat and indulged in our treats and watched a little America's Funniest Home Videos, a family tradition several years in the making. It was a great weekend.

Spring is Almost Sprung

It's a gloomy day in Georgia. The sky is covered in clouds and the rain is no where near done, but my Spring plants are making their slow debut.

I can't wait for some color in the landscaping. I'm not a big flower person- I usually stick with white petals- but the evergreen shrubs need some soft blooms to hang with. I still have hostas to sprout, and annuals to plant in my containers. Some creepy, crawly vines may also be in order for our front porch, no final decision on those yet. Slow and steady...

Waiting Game Part 2

I am anxiously awaiting yet another jewel to arrive in my possession- a brand spanking new backpack. After our latest wilderness adventure, I have come to realize that my small day pack will not longer work on the trails. I have far too much stuff to carry, and am in need of more space. So here is the upgrade:

I found this darling on REI's online outlet for a steal, so I grabbed her up. Granted, the name doesn't do much for me, I like that it is blue- I was never a pink kind of girl- which matches all of my other gear- although, I am that kind of girl. Since we are already planning another adventure soon, I will get to put it to good use. Next on the outdoors wish list:

{ Ruff Wear K-9 Overcoat- I hope it comes in XLong for Doc }

Who knew you needed so much stuff to enjoy Mother Nature??
